Membership
Sign up to become a member of the ESG Data Convergence Initiative. Prospective members can opt into the effort at any point in the year.
Who can join the EDCI
The initiative is open to any GP, LP, Investment Manager, or Investment Consultant advising EDCI-member LPs who wishes to join and agrees to support the principles of the work.
What does it mean for GPs to be part of this initiative? To participate, GPs agree to:
-
Determine funds that will take part in the initiative (while we recognize GPs may start with a subset of their investment strategies, the expectation is this will increase over time, as feasible)
-
On a best-efforts basis, track EDCI metrics, with an emphasis on mandatory metrics
-
Abide by the EDCI Metrics Guidance to the extent possible and explain deviations
-
As requested, provide EDCI data to LPs, preferably using the Data Submission Template
-
Submit anonymized data for participating PortCos by April 30 each year
-
Be publicly associated with the initiative
-
Encourage LPs to align with the EDCI
-
Voluntary: serve on working groups or self-nominate to join the Steering Committee
What does it mean for LPs and IMs to be part of this initiative? To participate, LPs or Investment Managers agree to:
- On a best efforts basis, where LP has relevant/ overlapping ESG data requests to GPs, align definitions with the EDCI’s definitions
- Encourage underlying GPs to align with this effort
- On a best efforts basis, encourage additional industry efforts to drive ESG information/ data request convergence
- Be publicly associated with the effort
- Voluntary: serve on working groups or self-nominate to join the Steering Committee
What does it mean for ICs to be part of this initiative?
Investment Consultants (ICs) are entities that advise LPs on their asset allocations. During the EDCI Steering Committee sprints, the decision was made that those ICs who currently advise committed LPs of the EDCI may now formally join the EDCI as committed members. Investment Consultants play an important role in the GP-LP ecosystem as an advisor to LPs, and therefore, can play a meaningful role in driving metrics standardization.
To participate, Investment Consultants agree to:
- On a best-efforts basis, where IC has relevant and/or overlapping ESG data requests, align definitions with the EDCI’s definitions
- Encourage non-EDCI LP clients (and underlying GPs) to align with this effort
- On a best-efforts basis, encourage additional industry efforts to drive convergence around ESG information and ESG data requests
- Use the benchmark (or insights derived from the benchmark) externally only with LP clients that are current EDCI members (in their role as an Investment Consultant to these LPs)
- Be publicly associated with the effort
- Voluntary: serve on working groups
Current EDCI Members
Currently, 350+ total members (240 GPs and 110 LPs/IMs) have committed to the EDCI, representing ~$27T USD of AUM worldwide.
